These are sharp edge unpolished (raw) hollow blanks perfect for making liquid cores. This is our version 2.0 which has the cuts along the edges of the die to allow for hiding the seam better when casting. They are a little more difficult to sand than our first version but provide a cleaner result. When possible we put our supports on the outside of the model so allow for easier time cleaning them up.
Molding suggestions - mold each half separately for a two part mold and use a 10-15 shore-hardness silicone. Cast like a regular master dice, using one of the flat faces to stick down to your tape.
Directions - put your inclusions in, seal the two sides (we use super glue or UV resin), use the hole to fill it with your liquid core mixture of choice and finally seal off the hole. Then you are ready to pop them into your numbered master molds. We designed these 2mm smaller than our standard masters for a snug fit.
They have been printed on a Form 3 printer and do not cause cure inhibition with platinum or tin cure silicone. This will allow you to cast them and make resin copies over and over again.
They come with the supports taken off and currently have a matte finish.
While we do our best to remove supports, some additional trimming may be necessary. The inside of the hollow does not need to be polished, once your epoxy copy is coated in resin and placed into your numbered mold it will go clear.
Our hollow inserts are designed to fit our sizes and shapes. If you need different sizing to fit masters made by another master maker please email us with the STLs and we can provide a quote.
